Mark Granger has been a leader and a routinely sought resource for manufacturers since 1976. In 2012 he returned to his beloved Adirondacks to open Granger Legal Consulting. Although he is no longer going to court, Granger is active in North America and internationally, advising clients on product design and liability, risk evaluation, regulatory compliance, product recalls and warnings and instructions. He helps clients evaluate new products and business ventures and helps them obtain the necessary legal and insurance supports. Although his major concentration has been on sports equipment and recreational vehicles and vessels, Granger has worked with heavy equipment manufacturers, chemical producers and facilities that impact the environment. He also advises on ADA compliance and regarding removing physical barriers to disabled persons.

Mark S. Granger retired in 2012 as a Senior Partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP. Since 1976, Mark Granger has been involved in defending litigation and advising clients in the areas of product liability, toxic tort, environmental defense and regulatory compliance. His extensive jury trial experience, combined with a scientific background, also assist him in advising clients on important issues such as litigation avoidance, reduction of litigation risk, and in helping clients determine whether new ventures would be appropriate and profitable.

Mr. Granger's representative clients include Fortune 500 companies as well as small family owned businesses. A graduate of Dickinson College and Boston University School of Law, he combines his chemistry background with his extensive experience in explaining complex equipment and scientific issues to enable him to assist a company in putting its "best foot forward" in regulatory matters and in negotiation. This combination has created winning results in court and before regulatory agencies, but also enables him to provide concrete and understandable advice to clients in reducing their litigation risks, and in evaluating entry into a particular product line or market. Mr. Granger has worked with a number of start-up companies and foreign companies in entering new business lines or new products in the United States. He has also worked with companies in dealing with regulatory matters before the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and various other state and federal agencies including OSHA, USEPA, Massachusetts DEP, Rhode Island DEM, New Hampshire DES, NY DEC, and the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries.

Mr. Granger also serves in an advisory capacity with respect to a number of industry groups. These include serving as counsel to the Protective Headgear Manufacturers Association and Chairman of the Legal Task Force of the Sport and Fitness Industry Association (SIFA formerly SGMA). He has served as a Director of The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council-Mass MEDIC, and as counsel to the Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC). He has served on the Legal Committee for the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI).

Mr. Granger is committed to the protection and the growth of the product manufacturing and service businesses. He has been elected to membership in the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC) (Member, Board of Directors 2000-2003) and is active in the Defense Research Institute. His work with Mass MEDIC, the Hockey Equipment Certification Council and the SGMA has brought him in close contact with manufacturers and distributors of a wide variety of products. His experience as a partially disabled person helps him advice clients on ADA compliance.

Mr. Granger is also a member of technical committees of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He is an active participant in the F08 Committee on Sports, Sports Equipment and Facilities, as well as various ASTM accessibility and environmental committees. He Chairs the F08 Ice Hockey Committee and is an Associate Committee Member of the Canadian Standards Association Ice Hockey Committee.

He is also an accomplished author, having written articles and sections of books and treatises on a variety of subjects from product liability and environmental issues to litigative risk reduction and avoidance. The products and systems that Mark Granger has been involved in include automobiles and trucks, various chemicals and chemical systems, flammable liquids and gases, camping equipment, earthmoving and heavy construction machinery, chemical and environmental exposures, fitness equipment, sports equipment, including helmets and other protective gear, food, food processing and restaurant issues, infant and children's products and toys, clothing and textiles, building design and management, architectural barriers, ADA compliance, air and ventilation design and construction, pharmaceuticals and prosthetic and medical devices.

Mark Granger is admitted to the Supreme Judicial Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is also a member of the Bar of New York State. He also has been admitted to numerous other courts across the country with respect to specific litigation.

Mark now resides where he has vacationed since 1952, in the beautiful Adirondacks of northern New York with his wife Kathy. He regularly travels to industry meetings and meetings with clients across North America and in Europe. Located half way between Albany NY and Montreal, he has easy access to all of North America from one of the most beautiful places in the world.
